Beyond the classroom

At Vita Multi Academy Trust, we believe that education is about nurturing the whole child. Beyond academic excellence, our curriculum is designed to support every student’s social, emotional, and physical development, preparing them to become well-rounded, confident, and content individuals, ready for lifelong success.

Across our family of schools, we offer a rich and diverse extra-curricular programme that inspires creativity, leadership, and personal growth. From performing arts and sports to global citizenship and student voice initiatives, our pupils have celebrated remarkable achievements that reflect their passion, resilience, and potential.

Together, we are building a community where every child is empowered to thrive, in school and beyond.

Perins School has a proud tradition of nurturing sporting excellence, with several former students going on to achieve national and professional success. Among them are Ashley Wilmot, George Wickens, Adam Rouse, and Betty Glover — each of whom has made their mark in elite sport and broadcasting.

These achievements reflect Perins’ dedication to nurturing talent, building resilience, and fostering a love for sport across all year groups. Whether competing at national level or supporting grassroots participation, Perins continues to lead with pride and purpose.

Perins continues to inspire the next generation of athletes through its vibrant sports programme and strong community support. View all of our recent sporting achievements on the Perins School website or follow their Instagram account @perinssport

Perins School has proudly led several successful international sports tours to South Africa, offering students unforgettable experiences both on and off the field. These tours have included competitive fixtures in rugby, netball, and hockey against local schools, as well as cultural excursions to iconic destinations such as Table Mountain, Robben Island, and national wildlife reserves.

Students not only developed their athletic skills but also built resilience, teamwork, and global awareness — reflecting Perins’ commitment to holistic education and sporting excellence. These tours remain a highlight of the school’s enrichment programme and a testament to its vibrant sporting culture.

These tours are made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, who provided essential kit and resources that enabled our students to represent Perins with pride. Their contributions play a vital role in creating unforgettable experiences and helping our young athletes thrive on and off the field

In the summer of 2024, Perins School proudly collaborated with local primary schools, including Sun Hill, to present a stunning production of Into The Woods at The Grange. This joint performance showcased the exceptional talent, teamwork, and creativity of students across all age groups, bringing together the community in a celebration of the performing arts.

The event highlighted Perins’ commitment to nurturing artistic expression and building strong partnerships with its feeder schools, creating a memorable experience for both performers and audiences alike.

We are incredibly proud of the strong culture of wellbeing at Sun Hill Junior School. Every day, we strive to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to be themselves. Through dedicated pastoral care, a rich PSHE curriculum, and a whole-school commitment to emotional literacy, we help our pupils build resilience, confidence, and kindness.

Our staff go above and beyond to ensure that wellbeing is not just a priority, it is woven into the fabric of school life, enabling every child to thrive both personally and academically.

At both Sun Hill Junior School and Perins School, student voice is a cornerstone of our ethos, empowering pupils to take an active role in shaping their school experience. We believe that when students are heard, they feel valued, respected, and more engaged in their learning. Through platforms like school councils, eco committees, and leadership roles, pupils at Sun Hill and Perins contribute ideas, influence decisions, and help drive positive change within their communities.

This culture of listening and collaboration fosters confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging. It also prepares students for life beyond the classroom, equipping them with the communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills they’ll need to thrive in the wider world. By placing student voice at the heart of school life, we create environments where young people feel empowered to lead, contribute, and grow.
